Warrior Athletics

The purpose of student athletics is to develop Christian character utilizing physical adversity
and team building to drive Christlike social skills.

Roadmap To a Competitive Program

Student athletes are led to grow in confidence balanced with humility. Properly managed Christian school athletic programs help students mature into adults who have the personal discipline and emotional durability to, as Hebrews admonishes, “run the race with patience.”

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, laying aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Jr. High will most likely continue participation in the Co-Ed Desert Pines Sports
League. If numbers in a particular age group allow us to have all male or all female
teams to begin competition with local public schools in any of the sports we are
targeting: initially basketball, volleyball, x-country, and track and field, then we will
begin competition this year, if possible.

High School students will engage in a comprehensive guided physical fitness
program which will start with voluntary summer workouts this coming July.
The objective for HS initially will be to engage Fresh/Soph or JV exhibition/
scrimmage play with AIA schools as is possible based on athlete numbers.

This should be achievable in cross-country and track and field.
Numbers will dictate whether scrimmages can be achieved in boys or girls
basketball or girls volleyball. We need 14 athletes to realistically start a soccer
program in the 9/10 grade level, we will begin play as soon as we achieve those
student numbers.

If exhibition play is not attainable for HS students, then a creative calendar of
athletic competition will be pursued consisting of 5k runs and “Spartan Races”
along with any other realistic “open to the public” events.

Jr. High will begin sport by sport converting to local play with AIA schools wherever
numbers of student athletes allows. In those sports short on athletes WMCA will
participate in the DPSL.

Direct AIA sanctioned play will begin in Cross-Country and Track and Field for the
HS. Basketball should be easily attainable based on numbers but will still consist
of Fresh/Soph or JV games with local schools.

Volleyball will be pursued with a similar eye to numbers and age of players.

Full participation of 1A AIA play for the High School and Jr. High if God provides the students. Praying for 14+ boys for soccer, 8+ girls for volleyball, 10+ basketball
players per team.

Boys State Fall Soccer Championship – 1A State Girls Volleyball Championship.
Competitive play in: Basketball, X-Country, Track and Field.

What Does It Mean To Be A Covenant School?

The covenant relationship means that our school and the Christian home commit, together and in tandem, to raise the child "in the way he should go."
